Rev. Alfred Weems III is Senior Pastor of Progressive Baptist Church in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Rev. Alfred Weems III is a native of Hammond, IN. He is a veteran paratrooper from the U.S. Army and a graduate of Purdue University. His mother Rhetta Robinson resides in Highland, IN and his father, Rev. Alfred Weems Jr. resides in West Helena, AR with his wife Verline. Rev. Weems has 3 sisters and 4 brothers. His pride and joy is his son, Christian R. Weems and daughter-in- love Clonzie. He is eagerly anticipating the birth of his granddaughter, due in June and has been blessed with another granddaughter, Kylie.
Rev. Alfred Weems III was licensed in ministry on July 4, 1993, and ordained March 12, 1995, under the pastoral leadership of the late, Rev. James Montgomery of New Tabernacle MB Church of Gary, IN. Rev. Weems is a seasoned servant-leader with more than three decades of faithful ministry. He is committed to preaching the Gospel, developing leaders, and strengthening the body of Christ. With a heart for people and a passion for purpose, he has consistently demonstrated a calling to guide congregations to know and hear the voice of God and to apply biblical principles to their daily lives.
Rev. Weems was affirmed as Pastor-Elect of Progressive Baptist Church in March 2026 and now serves as Senior Pastor. He is leading the congregation into a new season under the theme, "Moving Forward by Faith." His leadership is grounded in the foundational values of Faith, Unity, Vision, and Love, reflecting his commitment to building a church that is both spiritually strong and community focused. Known for his dynamic preaching, practical teaching, and authentic pastoral care; Rev. Weems has a unique ability to connect timeless biblical truth with real-life application. His ministry emphasizes discipleship, outreach, and meeting the needs of the disenfranchised, while cultivating a culture where all people know they belong.
In addition to his pastoral work, Rev. Weems is an author, an entrepreneur, tax professional and Financial Educator by equipping individuals and families with tools for stewardship, financial literacy, and generational empowerment. As he steps into this new chapter, Rev. Weems remains devoted to the mission of the church: to grow by making disciples, minister to the broken, and model Christ in both word and deed. His life and leadership echo the declaration of Psalm 118:23: "This is the Lord's doing; it is marvelous in our eyes."
